Biography

With more than two decades of legal experience, Karen Coffey brings a well-rounded background in both litigation and transactional matters. She earned her degree from Michigan State University in 1991 and graduated from Chicago-Kent College of Law in 1998.

Karen’s real estate experience includes drafting and interpreting easements and licensee agreements, handling both residential and commercial closings, representing residential landlords in lease disputes and representing both landlords and tenants in commercial lease disputes.

In the area of litigation, Karen has handled a wide range of commercial and civil matters, with a recent focus on construction defect cases under the Colorado Construction Defect Action Reform Act (CDARA).

On the transactional side, she regularly drafts business contracts and provides legal guidance on agreements her business clients have already signed. Prior to relocating from Michigan to Colorado, she also practiced in the area of estate planning, preparing wills, trusts, and powers of attorney.
